What Exactly Is That In Your Pocket, Hugo? 

 Ok, I have an idea for a drinking game.

The next time you are watching the news…

  • Drink 1 each time you see a picture of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
  • Drink 1 if he’s calling America the “Great Satan”
  • Drink 1 if you see a senior U.S. administration official say that “all options are on the table”.
  • Drink 1 if Jimmy Carter is blaming something on the United States or Israel
  • Drink 2 if you see Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez shaking hands and hugging
  • Finish off your bottle if the news correspondent actually does the honest thing and informs the public that Iran has no need to refine uranium because the nation already possesses enough fossil fuels to power the country for thousands of years, and the Russians are willing to provide them with all the Uranium they need to run a power plant.

NingNo, I’m not talking about a Facebook account. I’m talking about owning and operating your own social network site like Facebook.

Ning.com has developed a system that is as easy to set up as a blog, but gets you all the functionality of a full-blown social networking site. Oh, and the basic service is free!

If you want to take off the promotional stuff, or put your own advertising up, then there are fees. But even if you do that, it’s still less than $30 per month. Not bad considering you can easily pay more than that for a simple hosting account.
